History of the School:
From 1997, together with the Lombardy Region and other
experts in the sector and Associations in the same category,
such as Assomoda, Associazione Design Italiano, Federabbigliamento,
the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana entered the world
of training with the project, Italian Fashion School - Department
of Training and Research of the Camera Nazionale della Moda
Italiana. This school is for training young people who are
ready to respond to the different requirements of the fashion-clothing
companies, which need professionals who have increasingly
specific expertise.
Where to find the School:
The Italian Fashion School is based in Milan, care of the
S.I.A.M., Società di Incoraggiamento di Arti e Mestieri,
in Via Santa Marta 18. The courses held at this School are
free, thanks to finance from the European Social Fund. The
Institution which organises these courses has helped about
80/85% of those taking its courses, to find work, as well
as actively participating in the development of research
and fashion projects for companies, associations and international
research institutions.
Teachers at the School:
The teachers are professionals and managers in this sector
and were chosen on the basis of their expertise and professional
approach and their ability to transfer an operative vision
of the profession to the boys and girls, besides the basic
knowledge of each subject. The courses are co-ordinated
by a Multi-disciplinary Team: tutor, co-ordinators, planners,
visiting professor. They are all professionals with a considerable
vocation for research that is typical of Italian fashion.
Training Course:
The course includes a series of projects and work based
on the internet, participation in the different fashion
shows and in the most important fairs and displays in this
sector, one-to-one meetings with "prime speakers"
and experts in the Italian fashion system and in the sectors
connected with it, as well as guided tours to the companies
and the organisation of study trips.
The course offers participants the possibility of establishing
a direct contact with the world of work and puts into practice
the tools studied during the course. Some companies in the
sector really make themselves available in order to involve
the boys and girls in their activities, in a period of stages
(from 300 to 400 hours). Amongst these companies, we should
like to mention the following: Alma, Biagiotti, Chicco,
Coin, Corneliani, Lella Curiel, Diesel, Erreuno, Itierre,
Les Copains, Marzotto, Max Mara, Mila Schon, Moschillo,
Piacenza, Promotion Italia, Trussardi and Versace.
